Navin Molecular plans €32.6 million expansion of GMP manufacturing site

ECHEMI 2024-07-03

Navin Molecular, an India-based CDMO with small molecule development and manufacturing capabilities, recently announced an investment of Rs 288 crore (approximately €32.6 million) to build a 9,000 m2 GMP manufacturing facility in Dewas, India. The new facility will nearly double the site’s total capacity to 420 m3. It will support existing commercial-scale projects and meet future needs as the company continues to expand its global customer base.

The new Navin Molecular facility will nearly double the site’s total capacity to 420 m3. It will support existing commercial-scale projects and meet future needs as the company expands its global customer base.

The multi-functional facility will add 200 m3 of production capacity using different types of vessels. It will be able to perform a range of chemical reactions, including hazardous processes such as direct fluorination, cyanidation, azide chemistry, cryogenic reactions, and high-pressure hydrogenation. The plant will feature a high level of automated controls, including a distributed control system (DCS), to maximize efficiency while minimizing risk to employees and the environment.

The expansion will also increase the size and capacity of the plant’s existing 21 CFR-compliant QC laboratory for in-process testing. A new process safety laboratory and a dedicated zero liquid discharge (ZLD) wastewater treatment plant will be constructed, in line with India’s best green building philosophies, including renewable energy generation and solvent control. The plant’s groundbreaking ceremony was held in April 2024, and the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025.
