BASF powers its automotive OEM coatings business in China with 100% renewable electricity
BASF’s Coatings division has successfully renewed its agreement to source 100% renewable electricity for its automotive OEM coatings production site in Shanghai, China. Through a combination of Renewable Direct Purchase (R-DPP), International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs) and other measures, the company will continue to provide pure green electricity to its BASF Shanghai Coatings Minhang and Caojing sites and BASF Coatings Caojing resin plant.
The agreement highlights BASF Coatings’ commitment to helping its automotive OEM customers improve their environmental footprint and reinforces its desire to be a responsible, forward-thinking partner to automakers. “BASF Coatings’ strong commitment to sustainability is reflected in every drop of coating we produce. By utilizing 100% renewable electricity in our production processes in China, we are helping the Chinese automotive industry reduce the product carbon footprint (PCF) of its vehicles and helping each of our customers achieve their sustainability goals,” said Jack Zou, Vice President, OEM Global Key Account Management, BASF Coatings, Global Automotive OEM Coatings Asia Pacific. “We are more than just a high-quality automotive coatings supplier; we are the automotive industry’s partner of choice on its sustainability journey in China.”
