Explosion at Indian Pharmaceutical Plant: 17 Dead, 41 Injured, 16-Hectare Plant Burns to Ashes!

According to multiple Indian media reports, on August 21, a serious explosion occurred at a pharmaceutical plant named Escientia in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The explosion resulted in a heartbreaking number of casualties. So far, 17 people have died, and 41 others have been injured in the accident. This tragedy occurred at a pharmaceutical plant located in an economic development zone in the area, where approximately 190 workers were working at the time.

According to reports, the cause of the explosion was a violent explosion in a chemical reaction device within the pharmaceutical plant. Residents of nearby villages heard a huge explosion, and this sudden disaster plunged the entire area into a state of panic. After the accident, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and worked tirelessly to rescue and put out the fire. However, rescue efforts were hindered to some extent due to the thick smoke. The injured have been urgently sent to nearby hospitals for treatment, with many suffering from severe burns.

According to relevant reports, Escientia Pharmaceutical Plant mainly engages in the production of intermediate chemicals and active drug ingredients. The factory has been operating since April 2019 and has been in operation for several years. The factory is located within the 40-acre (16-hectare) factory area of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation and is very large in scale. It is understood that the factory employs approximately 380 workers in two shifts and has made contributions to the local economy and employment.
