New move! Maersk will launch a chemical tanker pool to maximize the benefits of chemical transport vessels
Maersk said, "With the support of existing partners and leveraging our extensive experience and expertise in chemical tankers, the new pool aims to maximize returns for our partners' J19 vessels." J19 generally refers to stainless steel chemical tankers with a deadweight of between 19,000 and 22,500 tons.
This is another round of expansion after Maersk Tankers completed the acquisition of boutique commercial management company Penfield Marine in January. This strategic move enables Maersk Tankers to build a larger crude oil and product tanker company, enhancing its service capabilities for joint partners and freight customers.
Maersk's pooling system provides a series of benefits to participants, including access to freight transactions, stable cash flow and market insight analysis. In addition, Maersk Tankers also stated that it will provide support in fuel consumption optimization, regulatory compliance and voyage management. According to the recent announcement, the pool system has no minimum commitment period and flexible redelivery terms, aiming to provide shipowners with a convenient joining process and transparent benefits.
Maersk Tankers currently operates nine series of tanker pools, including Suezmax tankers, Aframax tankers, Panamax tankers, LR2 tankers, LR1 tankers, MR tankers, Handy tankers, Intermediate tankers and City tankers.
