Japan Adds Chinese Companies to List of Food Sweeteners Subject to Inspection Orders

ECHEMI 2024-10-15

On October 10, 2024, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan officially issued Notice No. 1010 No. 1, which states that in the process of routine autonomous inspection of imported food, Cycylate was found in food produced by a company called Kuncheng Fengyuan(Chongqing)Biotechnology Co., Ltd. In view of this situation, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare decided to take further regulatory measures and included these companies in the list of "Chinese-made food (cyclamate) ordered inspection companies." This measure is to ensure the safety of imported food, prevent food containing non-compliant additives from entering the Japanese market, and protect the health rights of consumers. As a result, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare will implement stricter order checks on the food produced by the company to ensure that all imported food meets Japan's food safety standards.
