Evion Expands Expandable Graphite Capacity to 4,000 Tons Per Year
Evion Group NL announces significant progress in its 50/50 joint venture (JV) with Panthera Graphite Technology (PGT). The JV has successfully completed production testing and sample approval, paving the way for full-scale production of expandable graphite.
The JV plans to produce approximately 400 tonnes of expandable graphite over the next 10 weeks. The majority of this (approximately 386 tonnes) has been sold to European buyers through recently signed contracts. The JV expects to realize a profit of approximately AUD 2 million from the sale.
The JV plans to take advantage of strong demand and attractive market dynamics to expand production capacity to 4,000 tonnes per year. The expansion is expected to generate additional revenue of approximately $6 million per year.
The sales agreement with Technografit GmbH, a leading European graphite trading company, secures attractive pricing for the JV. The average selling price is expected to be between $3,000 and $3,300 per tonne (FOB), significantly exceeding the production cost.
The global expandable graphite market is experiencing strong growth driven by its increasing applications in various industries such as electric vehicles (EV), aerospace, energy storage and electronics.
David Round, Managing Director of Evion, said: "We are delighted to have achieved this important milestone. Our joint venture's state-of-the-art plant in India makes us a key player in the global expandable graphite market. We are confident that this is just the beginning of a prosperous future for Evion and our shareholders. Our expandable graphite plant near Pune, India is a technologically advanced, clean energy driven project that will produce large volumes of expandable graphite worldwide to meet the growing global demand for this material from sources outside of China. We have conducted extensive research and testing with buyers and believe we can grow our business to become one of the world's largest producers of downstream graphite products outside of China."
