Nippon Shokubai acquires emulsion technology assets from JSR Corporation
Nippon Shokubai has entered into a major agreement with JSR Corporation to acquire a stake in JSR subsidiary Emulsion Technology Co. (E-TEC), which was founded in 1963. The acquisition marks a strategic move by Nippon Shokubai to enhance its product offerings and technological capabilities, particularly in the field of emulsion-based products for industrial use. E-TEC has specialized in emulsion processes for decades, producing a wide range of products including building materials, waterproofing solutions, adhesives and pressure-sensitive adhesives. These products are mainly produced using synthetic rubber latex or acrylic emulsions.
E-TEC has become a key player in the industrial sector with its two core technologies: emulsion polymerization technology and compounding technology. Emulsion polymerization involves the manufacture of emulsions through the polymerization of raw materials, resulting in products with a wide range of uses and enhanced properties. Compounding technology, on the other hand, involves combining emulsions with other materials to achieve superior product performance to meet the increasingly complex needs of various industries. This combination of technologies enables E-TEC to provide high-quality products for construction, civil engineering and a range of other industrial applications.
With this acquisition, Nippon Shokubai aims to significantly enhance its product portfolio, particularly in the construction chemicals sector. The addition of E-TEC's technology will enable Nippon Shokubai to expand its emulsion polymerization capabilities and enhance its ability to produce and supply a wider range of emulsion products. The increased production capacity will enable the company to meet the growing demand for construction and industrial materials that require advanced performance characteristics, such as enhanced durability, flexibility and adhesion.
In addition, Nippon Shokubai will also benefit from integrating composite technology more deeply into its business. E-TEC's expertise in combining emulsions with other materials will enable Nippon Shokubai to develop more complex and tailored solutions for its customers, giving the company a competitive advantage in the market. The ability to develop more effective and innovative proposals will enhance Nippon Shokubai's position in the global construction chemicals and other industrial products market.
