EU Imposes Tariffs on Titanium Dioxide from China! 15 Countries Support, Tariffs for 5 Years
EU member states have approved the imposition of final anti-dumping duties on titanium dioxide imported from China. About 15 countries supported the move, while 8 opposed it and 4 abstained. The tariffs will take effect on January 11 and last for five years. The European Commission has proposed different rates for various companies, with Anhui JinXing Group facing €0.25 per kilogram and Longbai Group €0.74 per kilogram. Temporary tariffs have been levied against India since July, with the final rates slightly lower. The investigation was initiated a year ago in response to complaints from the European producers' alliance. China's market share for imported products has risen to 22%, putting pressure on EU producers' profits. According to EU statistics, China’s titanium dioxide imports exceeded €500 million in 2023. EU producers include Cinkarna, Kronos, Tronox, and Venator. CEPE has opposed the tariffs, arguing they will affect the EU coatings industry. TiO2 imports for producing white graphic inks for printing have been exempted.
