Clariant's 2027 Growth Plan: 20% Innovation Rate and Doubling Profits!
On November 21, 2024, Clariant officially announced its growth plan for 2027, along with a series of corresponding measures. According to this plan, by 2027, Clariant's innovation rate is expected to reach approximately 20%, which will directly drive the company's EBITDA margin to a range of 19% to 21%. Additionally, Clariant plans to help all three of its business units achieve operational cost savings of around 80 million Swiss francs through these measures.
During the announcement, Clariant's CEO, Conrad Keijzer, emphasized that each of the company's business segments has been assigned a clear strategic mandate. These mandates include achieving accelerated growth, surpassing growth, maintaining growth, improving growth, and harvesting growth. For segments requiring accelerated growth, Clariant will mobilize the necessary resources to rapidly increase market share. For segments with potential for surpassing growth, the company plans to leverage its strong competitive position or scale advantages in attractive markets to drive growth. For markets requiring maintenance growth, Clariant will focus on consolidating its long-term market position to ensure these businesses continue to add value to the group’s portfolio. For areas with potential for improvement, the company will adopt improvement growth strategies to enhance overall growth trajectories and/or profitability of the cost structure. Finally, for harvesting growth categories, Clariant will continue to utilize its existing asset base while focusing on cash flow generation.
Keijzer also noted that Clariant's global business layout is very balanced, with approximately 40% of sales coming from the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East and Africa. The company has a strong local sales platform in these key growth areas. By acquiring Lucas Meyer Cosmetics, Clariant has established a leading position in high-end cosmetics ingredients, which is expected to continue growing at a double-digit rate annually. In the pharmaceutical sector, Clariant aims to increase market share through targeted growth measures and expects to achieve a single-digit compound annual growth rate by 2027.
Keijzer concluded by stating that each strategic task is equipped with a tailored strategy that will determine resource allocation and reshape the company's innovation process to ensure systematic implementation of these strategies.
