The largest investment in China! Sanofi to invest 1 billion euros to build a new insulin production base in Beijing

Sanofi announced its largest investment in China, pledging 1 billion euros to build a new insulin production facility in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone. This will be Sanofi's fourth production base in China, following existing bases in Beijing, Shenzhen and Hangzhou. The investment highlights Sanofi's commitment to meet the growing demand for diabetes care in the region and strengthens its manufacturing footprint in key markets.

 

The announcement comes at a time when China is facing trade tensions with the European Union, despite which China is actively working to strengthen economic ties with EU countries. In this context, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao assured the Chairman of Sanofi of his commitment to provide full support in terms of technological innovation and market competition. The Minister also stressed that China is committed to providing a stable business environment for foreign companies, including creating favorable conditions for investment in areas such as healthcare and manufacturing.

 

In addition to expanding production, Sanofi has also made great progress in the Chinese market with its biotherapeutic drug Dupixent. In September this year, Dabitux was approved in China as the first biologic therapeutic for the treatment of adult patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a disease characterized by increased blood eosinophils. The approval followed favorable results from two Phase 3 clinical trials, which showed that the drug significantly reduced the number of COPD exacerbations, improved lung function, and improved patients' quality of life.
