Evonik Licenses Hydrogen Peroxide Production Technology to Pingmei Shenma
Evonik will license hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) production technology to China Pingmei Shenma Group Nylon Technology Co., Ltd. (Shenma) to build a large-scale H2O2 plant with an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons in Pingdingshan City, Henan Province. The H2O2 produced by the new plant will be used for Shenma's production of caprolactam, a key precursor for nylon 6. The agreement was signed on March 5, 2025 in Pingdingshan City. The H2O2 large-scale plant is expected to be put into operation in 2026.
Shenma Chemical is a major player in China's chemical fiber industry, covering the entire value chain of nylon 6 and nylon 66. The company plans to expand its caprolactam production capacity to 600,000 tons per year by 2026. By simultaneously upgrading its H2O2 production technology and increasing its production capacity, Shenma Chemical will ensure supply security and high quality. The choice of Evonik's fluidized bed technology will enable Shenma Chemical to meet the country's most stringent new requirements for H2O2 production process safety.

The agreement with Shenma is Evonik's third hydrogen peroxide production license project in China. Recently, Fuhua Chemical Company built a 200,000 tons/year H2O2 plant based on Evonik technology in Leshan City, Sichuan Province.
