Interparfums Acquires Goutal to Enter the High-End Perfume Sector

ECHEMI 2025-03-19

On March 18, Interparfums announced the acquisition of Goutal, a luxury perfume brand founded by Annick Goutal in 1981, which is considered to have strong growth potential. The brand occupies a place in the field of high-end perfume, emphasizing high-quality raw materials and integrating natural ingredients with innovative formulas.

Interparfums said it has acquired "all intellectual property rights related to Maison Goutal held by AmorePacific Europe worldwide".

"AmorePacific Europe will continue to operate the Goutal brand under a license agreement for a fixed period. Interparfums will develop the brand with its licensee from 2026," the company added.

The brand was acquired by US investment fund Starwood Capital in 2005 and then sold to South Korean cosmetics giant AmorePacific in 2011.

The purchase price paid by Interparfums has not been disclosed. However, the group noted that Annick Goutal's revenues "had previously reached around €10-12 million", without specifying a time frame.

Interparfums CEO Philippe Benacin said the acquisition "embodies our strategy to expand our product range to include high-end fragrances. The brand, known for its iconic collections such as L'Eau d'Hadrien and Petite Chérie, has great potential in this highly dynamic market," he added.

The group has announced the upcoming launch of the niche brand Solferino, demonstrating its interest in high-end fragrances, an area with strong growth potential.

Interparfums, which manages brands such as Jimmy Choo, Montblanc, Lacoste and Coach, reported a 10% increase in net profit to €129.9 million in 2024, with an operating margin of more than 20% for the full year.
