During the modern era, the first perfume was created in 1921, and it was created from several components to form the compound, among them several natural elements were used, and others of synthetic nature, in the conformation of this substance was a combination of components that were achieved through chemical synthesis, such as aldehydes, and floral essences.

 

During the manufacture of this first perfume about 80 substances were used to form the compound, as a result, a mixture with very specific properties was achieved, such as a very intense smell, and with a lot of sensuality, this creation was the work of a well-known chemist named Ernest Beaux, who confirmed it with the name of Chanel number 5.

 

This compound called perfume, became the origin of what is today the modern perfumery, through time, the development in the perfume factory has massively incorporated the use of synthetic components, in order to enrich the olfactory capabilities of these compounds, and thus, the palettes of perfume manufacturers have been enhanced with the novel incorporation of new synthetic ingredients.

 

The science of chemistry has been a very important baton in the preparation and improvement of the perfume industry, the molecular study has allowed the advance in the preparation of fragrances on a large scale at the industrial level.

 

Basic perfume components

The components of a perfume are distributed according to a structure known as the olfactory pyramid, on the basis of which the perfume notes are determined, these vary depending on the volatility of the compounds that make it up.

 

In the perfume industry thousands of ingredients are used to provide the scent, usually liquids, and solids in the form of powder, or waxes, and pastes, those of natural origin are essential oils, and resins obtained by distillation processes, which involves the water vapor that is generated with aromatic plants, flowers, a variety of spices, roots and seeds, while concretes, and absolutes are extracted with organic solvents, of these components the concretes constitute the soluble ingredients in organic solvents, such as hexane, butane, and others, they are characterized by having a smell faithful to the material of origin and are stable.

 

Is perfume a compound where the absolutes, one of the ingredients that form it, have greater solubility, are more noble, and its use is simpler.
