3 trends of European and American daily chemicals

ECHEMI 2020-07-17

Perfumed personal care products and high-end perfumes are moving towards calming, soothing, and familiarity. However, from a higher perspective, we will find a brand of cosmetics and fragrances and suppliers of daily fragrances in order to make fragrances sit in the C position, three strategies are being adopted in the field of fragrance raw materials.

As consumers increasingly accept the reality of the spread of the New Crown epidemic and the global economy in crisis, the cosmetics and personal care industries and companies leading the clean, green beauty movement continue to emphasize safety and hygiene. But this has not diminished the three major trends in daily chemicals mentioned below. On the contrary, this status quo makes the three trends even more important, and also drives daily chemical fragrance suppliers and personal care and perfume brands to accelerate research and development.

Daily chemical transparency is accumulating energy

Consumer demand for product disclosure of all ingredients continues to grow. The efforts of consumer goods companies such as SC Johnson in the United States have also proved that it is feasible to publish the ingredients of daily fragrances. In 2015, SC Johnson launched an initiative called “Transparency of Skin Allergens”.

In the field of high-end perfumes and perfumed products, Palette Naturals, a daily fragrance startup, was founded in 2017. The company's blended fragrance ingredients are completely transparent, allowing brands that use their raw materials to formulate products to ensure transparency. This year, Palette Naturals announced the expansion of its product portfolio, adding 5 new blended spices, including a botanical musk.

At the end of 2019, French cosmetics company Sozio launched a "Clean Label" (Clean Label) fragrance formula product line with a complete list of raw materials. Sozio General Manager Frederic Braud said: "In the field of cosmetics, transparency is the key now. Consumers want to see formulas, or form increasingly strict guidelines in controlling the use of raw materials. ."

Last month, Firmenich released a tool called the EcoIngredient Compass, which scores its fragrance raw materials for biodegradability, green chemistry, and renewable properties. Firmenich will mark these three parameters in the sales catalog of all its fragrance molecules.

Perfumed products consumers care about environmental sustainability

Sustainable raw material procurement and plans to support biodiversity and protect the natural environment have always been an integral part of the fragrance industry. Taking Givaudan as an example, the company provided support for the Citrus Variety Collection at the University of California, Riverside.

When consumers expect brand makers to make more ethical business decisions, the application of sustainability certification for end products is making brands stand out in the market.

In April of this year, perfume company Coty announced that its CK EVERYONE Eau De Toilette has received the Material Health Certificate from the Cradle to Cradle Product Innovation Institute. Simona Cattaneo, President of Cody Luxury Brands, said: "The raw material health certification reinforces Coty's commitment to building a sustainable platform. Our goal is to build a better business in the cosmetics industry while making positive changes to society, ethics and the environment Contribution."

The functionalities of daily chemical spices set off a wave

In recent years, independent beauty brands have played a key role in promoting functional cosmetics for consumers. Aba Love Apothecary, a skin care brand that focuses on aromatherapy, has been committed to promoting the skin care and aroma effects of essential oils, clean oils, balsams, plant and seed oils to consumers.

In May this year, Firmenich's "Dreamwood" (Dreamwood) spice debuted. This is a daily chemical with skin care effects. According to reports, Mengzhimu is built with the help of biotechnology, "can bring a beauty effect similar to sandalwood."
