Befar Group Egypt Chlor-alkali Plant Project Groundbreaking
On the 15th, Befar Group Co., Ltd Group Egypt Chlor-alkali Plant Project held a groundbreaking ceremony in the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone on the coast of the Red Sea in Egypt.
Befar Group Egypt Chlor-alkali Plant Project will be built in two phases. The construction period of the first phase of the project is about 2 years, mainly to build a 60,000 tons/year ion membrane caustic soda unit, a 60,000 tons/year ion membrane sheet caustic soda unit and related supporting projects. Through the strategic cooperation reached with Amir Energy, the project relies on the P2P model of the Egyptian government's trial operation to achieve cost-effective acquisition of green electricity resources, build a future green chemical production park and certification center, and explore an integrated full-chain green chemical landing model.
Walid Jamaluddin, Chairman of the Egyptian Suez Canal Authority, said that the importance of the project lies in the fact that it is not only a large-scale industrial facility, but also an integrated system based on the principle of environmental sustainability, which will provide experience for Egypt to establish an environmentally friendly chemical industry. From an economic perspective, the project will enhance Egypt's strategic commodity security capabilities, reduce import expenditures and promote export earnings.
Cai Yinghui, senior vice president of Befar Group, said that Egypt has rich wind, solar and chemical raw material resources. Befar Group will make full use of Egypt's energy, transportation, market and policy advantages, actively explore the new development model of "new energy + chemical industry", and strive to promote the implementation of the project to create Egypt's first zero-carbon chemical demonstration park.
