Unilever to Invest $1.5 Billion in New Beauty and Personal Care Product Plant in Mexico
Unilever will invest $1.5 billion in Mexico between 2025 and 2028, including the establishment of a new plant dedicated to the production of beauty and personal care products.
The consumer goods company confirmed the 30 billion pesos investment at a press conference hosted by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. The plan includes an allocation of 8 billion pesos (407.4 million U.S. dollars) for the construction of a new manufacturing plant in Nuevo León, which will focus on the production of beauty and personal care products. This wider investment is expected to create 1,200 jobs through various initiatives.
The move is in line with the Mexican government-led "Mexico Plan" to attract foreign direct investment. For Unilever, the expansion not only supports the growing demand for personal care products in the region, but also consolidates its nearshoring strategy in North America.
