Evonik launches particle dispersion portfolio to improve resolution of inkjet ink coatings

Evonik Coating Additives has launched a series of four new AERODISP dispersions based on SiO2 or Al2O3 particles designed to improve receptive coatings for water-based inkjet inks.

Excellent dot sharpness and high resolution are key to support the transition from analog to digital printing, especially for water-based inkjet inks. To achieve high-quality results, the spreading behavior and fixation of the ink on the substrate must be controlled.

Evonik's Coating Additives division has launched a new range of water-based AERODISP dispersions designed to ensure sharp ink dots and effectively fix the ink droplets on the ink-receptive coating, also known as inkjet primer. AERODISP dispersions can be added with simple stirring and are compatible with a wide range of different binders and formulations.

To meet the needs of different applications, two of the new AERODISP dispersions are anionic and two are cationic. This ensures optimal interaction and fixation of the ink on the primer.

Anionic grades are particularly recommended for food packaging and decoration applications, as they are compatible with nonionic and anionic binder systems. Cationic grades are compatible with nonionic and cationic binder systems, making them the first choice for primers such as textile inks.
