Sun Pharma Invests 100 Million Dollars to Launch Breakthrough Specialty Drugs
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries has committed $100 million in FY25 to commercialize innovative specialty products, aiming to strengthen its global presence in high-value therapeutic areas. The company will focus on launching two key products:
- Unloxcyt, approved for treating metastatic cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC).
- Leqselvi, developed for patients with severe alopecia areata.
Sun Pharma’s global specialty sales grew 17.1% in FY25, reaching $1.216 billion, with Q4 sales alone rising 8.6% to $295 million.
Chairman Dilip Shanghvi confirmed ongoing efforts to find a development partner for MM-II, targeting osteoarthritis pain, and announced plans for a trial of GL0034 for type 2 diabetes. Additionally, Sun Pharma has agreed to acquire Checkpoint Therapeutics, which recently received USFDA approval for Unloxcyt, further solidifying its oncology portfolio.
For FY26, Sun Pharma expects mid-to-high single-digit topline growth, with R&D spending at 6-8% of sales.
