October Epichlorohydrin Market Rises First Then Falls in China
October 31 News
In October, the epichlorohydrin market initially rose before declining. According to the monitoring and analysis system, as of October 31, the benchmark price for epichlorohydrin stood at 11,900.00 CNY per ton, representing a decrease of -2.46% compared to the beginning of the month.
Price influencing factors:
On the raw materials front: The price of glycerin, a key raw material, remains high, providing firm support to the market price of epichlorohydrin. Meanwhile, propylene prices—another critical input—have fluctuated downward this month, limiting cost-based support. According to market analysis systems, as of October 31, the benchmark price for propylene stood at 6,095.75 CNY per ton, down 6.84% from the beginning of the month (6,543.25 CNY per ton).
On the demand side: The downstream epoxy resins market is experiencing weak demand, leading to a lukewarm atmosphere for actual transactions. Traders are mostly adopting a wait-and-see approach, proceeding with cautious purchasing—this situation is further exacerbating the market downturn. Meanwhile, downstream end-users of epichlorohydrin are showing subdued consumption patterns, lacking strong support. As a result, epoxy chlorohydrin prices are expected to remain generally stable, albeit on the weaker side, in the near term.
Market Forecast: Epoxy Chloropropane analysts believe that cost factors provide limited support for the market. Downstream demand remains weak, with buyers primarily driven by essential purchasing needs, resulting in a sluggish trading atmosphere. As a result, epoxy chloropropane prices are expected to remain generally stable in the near term, though ongoing monitoring of raw material costs and shifts in market supply and demand will be crucial.
