EU Delays Approval of Epsilon-Metofluthrin for Biocidal Products Until 2032
On June 27, 2025, the European Commission issued Regulation (EU) 2025/1248, announcing the postponement of the approval period for epsilon-metofluthrin in product type 18 biocidal products. The regulation will take effect 20 days after publication.
Under this decision, the approval period for epsilon-metofluthrin has been extended to May 31, 2032. This delay underscores the EU's cautious approach toward biocidal product safety and regulatory compliance.
Epsilon-metofluthrin is widely used in insect repellents and pest control products. The extension is expected to give manufacturers additional time to meet EU safety and efficacy requirements. The regulation highlights the importance of strict oversight in biocidal product approvals to ensure public and environmental safety.
