Evonik Moves POLYVEST Production to Shanghai Expands Capacity by Q3 2025
Evonik announced the relocation of POLYVEST® ST-E 60 production to Shanghai, reinforcing its commitment to supply stability and proximity to Asian customers. The expansion project is set to complete by Q3 2025, enabling localized production and increased global capacity to meet rising demand for high-performance additives.
POLYVEST® ST-E 60, a silanized liquid polybutadiene, is widely used in rubber compounding, adhesives, coatings, tires, and sealants. The move strengthens Evonik’s position as a reliable partner in specialty chemicals, ensuring shorter lead times and enhanced supply security for its Asian clientele.
Dr. Anna Maria Ickert, Head of Coating and Adhesive Resins at Evonik, stated: “This expansion not only boosts our production capacity but also ensures faster deliveries to Asian markets. In today’s environment, building a resilient, localized supply chain is critical for efficiently addressing market needs.”
Dr. Jürgen Herwig, Head of Polybutadienes and Specialty Acrylates, emphasized that the project aligns with Evonik’s long-term strategy to optimize global operations, promote sustainability, and tap into regional growth opportunities. He added that the additional capacity would help customers achieve their goals while strengthening Evonik’s presence in Asia.
POLYVEST®’s rubber-based properties make it an ideal reactive plasticizer for tire formulations, offering natural compatibility and superior bonding with tread compounds.
