Eisai Pharma Unveils Bold Plan: $100 Million Global Center Set to Transform Visakhapatnam Now
Eisai Pharma, a global leader in human health care, has announced its ambitious move to launch a state-of-the-art Global Capability Center (GCC) in Visakhapatnam. This strategic leap is expected to accelerate digital transformation in India’s pharmaceutical landscape, with robust backing from the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone.
Makoto Haketsu, Eisai’s Global Chief Information Officer, revealed this high-impact initiative during a visit to GITAM University, highlighting the company’s intent to harness the region’s exceptional digital talent. By tapping into local expertise, Eisai aims to deliver cutting-edge solutions for the rapidly evolving healthcare sector.
Haketsu praised GITAM’s innovative research environment and its focus on emerging technologies, noting the potential for deep academic-industry partnerships. With senior university figures and Eisai executives in attendance, both parties expressed strong interest in collaborative research—particularly in data science, healthcare technologies, and pharmaceutical breakthroughs.
Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat emphasized the city’s growing reputation for innovation-driven education and real-world impact. The new GCC is poised to create significant opportunities for joint technology development and foster a culture of continuous innovation.
