4 Pharma Firms Lose Licenses in Jammu and Kashmir Amid Illegal Drug Sales Crackdown
Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have revoked the licenses of four pharmaceutical companies after uncovering their involvement in the secretive trade of addictive medications. Healthways Pharma (Rajouri), Nuegene Pharmaceutical Distributors, N T Traders (Baramulla), and Essence Pharmaceutical Distributors (Srinagar) were all penalized following a rigorous inspection by the State Drugs Controller-cum-Licensing Authority, Lotika Khajuria.
Investigators found these distributors were illegally purchasing and selling habit-forming drugs like Tapentadol and Pregabalin from neighboring states, while bypassing mandatory record-keeping requirements. This operation was described as a direct threat to public health and safety, particularly for vulnerable groups at risk of substance misuse.
Officials emphasized that any action facilitating prescription drug abuse will face the strictest penalties. The public is urged to report suspicious pharmaceutical activities to the authorities’ helpline. This decisive move highlights the government’s commitment to fighting illegal drug trade and protecting communities from the dangers of pharmaceutical misuse.
