Recent Acetic Acid Market Trends in China
August 26, News
According to the commodity market analysis system, the recent acetic acid price trend has remained stable. The average market price of acetic acid on the 25th was 2,400 CNY/ton, unchanged from the price of 2,400 CNY/ton on August 18th. The acetic acid prices in China have been mostly stable with minor fluctuations, and the market conditions have been operating with some differences. The supply-side capacity utilization rate has slightly decreased, and the inventory pressure for enterprises is not significant. Downstream buyers are restocking as needed, and the market transactions are acceptable. Enterprises are adopting a wait-and-see approach while organizing their sales.
Recently, the upstream methanol market has been showing a weak and fluctuating trend. As of the 25th, the average price in the Chinese market was 2,306.67 CNY/ton, a decrease of 0.52% compared to the price of 2,318.67 CNY/ton on August 18th. With the resumption of methanol production facilities in China, the demand for spot goods is moderate, and the support from the domestic market is somewhat lacking. Downstream acceptance of high prices is poor, and the market trading atmosphere is lackluster, with the focus of methanol transactions showing a weak and fluctuating trend.
The downstream acetic anhydride market in China is operating weakly and steadily, with the average ex-factory price from August 18 to 25 maintaining at 4082.50 CNY/ton. The upstream acetic acid inventory remains high, and the market trading atmosphere is mixed, providing limited support to acetic anhydride. Downstream purchases are mainly based on rigid demand, and market transactions are moderate. The supply and demand of the acetic anhydride market in China are relatively balanced, and the price of acetic anhydride is stable and under observation during this period.
For the future market forecast, acetic acid analysts believe that China's acetic acid capacity utilization rate remains at a high level, with ample market supply. Sales vary across different regions, but downstream demand is mainly driven by actual needs, with limited overall inventory requirements. The market fundamentals indicate an oversupply. It is expected that the acetic acid market will remain in a wait-and-see mode for adjustments, and attention should be paid to the follow-up situation of downstream demand.
