PVC Market’s “Golden September” Hopes Dimmed
August saw PVC prices under persistent downward pressure, with the market oscillating weakly . Despite anticipation for a seasonal pickup in “Golden September,” no clear rebound signs have emerged – the PVC market’s response has been tepid at best. Upstream PVC producers have sunk into deep losses, unable to break free from slim margins, while downstream demand remains sluggish amid a traditional off-season. Inventory levels stay high and new production capacity looms, further weighing on prices. Given the oversupply and lackluster demand, industry insiders caution that the hoped-for peak season may turn out hollow, unless stimulus or a demand revival materializes. In short, PVC’s “Golden September” might prove to be empty talk, with the market likely to continue its weak, shaky trend absent a significant catalyst.
