Recent Domestic Refinery Petcoke Prices See a Slight Increase
September 1st News
According to the commodity analysis system, the recent price of petroleum coke from local refineries in China has slightly increased. As of September 1st, the price of petroleum coke in the Shandong market was 2,440.00 CNY/ton, up 1.14% from 2,412.50 CNY/ton on August 25th.
Recently, crude oil prices have been fluctuating upward, but as the peak U.S. traditional fuel consumption season winds down—and coupled with ongoing peace talks between Russia and Ukraine—the outlook for crude oil prices points toward a downward trend.
Recently, the shipment of petroleum coke from local refineries in China has been good, with low inventory levels at the refineries; downstream enterprises still have procurement demand for petroleum coke: the demand for petroleum coke from the aluminum carbon industry remains stable, while the negative electrode material market mainly purchases petroleum coke on a need basis. The production enthusiasm of graphite electrode companies is not high, resulting in limited procurement of petroleum coke. Recently, the shipment of petroleum coke from ports has been acceptable, with an increase in port spot supply, and the price of coke has slightly decreased.
Recently, the calcined coke market has risen, with decent trading activity in the market. The downstream procurement demand is supported by rigid needs, and the inventory of calcined coke enterprises in China is at a low level.
Outlook: Currently, the market for petroleum coke from local refineries in China is experiencing decent trading activity. Downstream procurement is mainly driven by rigid demand, which continues to support the petroleum coke market. It is expected that the petroleum coke market will mainly undergo consolidation in the near future.
