September 8, News

September prices of 2-ethylhexanol fluctuated and declined in China

According to the commodity market analysis system, as of September 8, the price of 2-ethylhexanol was 7,283.33 CNY/ton, a fluctuating decrease from the price of 7,533.33 CNY/ton on August 1, with a price decrease of 3.32%. In September, the operating rates of 2-ethylhexanol production facilities in China remained high and stable, with an equipment utilization rate of 95%, and there was an increase in new capacity for 2-ethylhexanol, leading to an increase in supply. The downstream plasticizer enterprises maintained stable operations, but the demand support for 2-ethylhexanol from plasticizers was limited. With the increase in supply and limited demand support, the price of 2-ethylhexanol in September fluctuated and decreased.

Downstream plasticizer DOP prices fluctuated and fell in China.

According to the commodity market analysis system, as of September 8th, the price of DOP was 7517.50 CNY/ton, a fluctuating decrease from the DOP price of 7589.17 CNY/ton on September 1st, with a price decrease of 0.94%. With the decline in costs, the downward pressure on DOP has increased; in September, the operating load of DOP enterprises in China has stabilized, but the demand for 2-ethylhexanol is insufficient, and the support from the increase in 2-ethylhexanol prices is limited.

Future Market Expectations

Octanol product data analysts believe that in terms of supply, the operating load of octanol production facilities in China remains high and stable, coupled with a significant increase in new octanol production capacity, leading to an oversupply of octanol. On the demand side, the price of DOP is fluctuating downward, resulting in insufficient support for octanol demand. Looking ahead, with increased supply and limited demand for octanol, it is expected that the price of octanol will fluctuate and decline.
