Synthetic fragrance market trend: the supply of maltol will increase, and the price of vanillin will rise...

ECHEMI 2021-07-28

On July 21, the global fragrance company De Monchy Aromatics (De Monchy Aromatics) released an analysis of the synthetic fragrance market in July, predicting that the maltol/ethyl maltol market will improve in the second half of the year, while vanillin/ethyl aroma The price of Lansu will continue to climb.

Leaf Alcohol and its derivatives

The supply of synthetic leaf alcohol and its derivatives is very scarce. As there is no alternative, many users are forced to consider leaf alcohol from natural sources. EU natural grade leaf alcohol is also under pressure, leading to price increases and manufacturers delaying delivery cycles.

EU natural grade Maltol

This year, the market demand for EU natural grade maltol has increased significantly. In view of the limited number of production plants, the source supply is temporarily short. Supply will resume in the next few weeks, and prices have now risen slightly.

Maltol/Ethyl maltol

The price increase of maltol and ethyl maltol has been going on for several months because one of the large manufacturers temporarily suspended production, and only two other manufacturers have stocks. The plant is expected to resume production soon, so supply should improve in the second half of this year.

Thiothiazole

All grades of thiothiazole are still out of stock. The cost of the industrial grade has risen by about 15%, which has a knock-on effect on the various distillation grades used in the flavor and fragrance industry, and the delivery cycle of the source manufacturers is very long.

Vanillin/Ethyl Vanillin

The vanillin/ethyl vanillin market is still very chaotic. Wanglong Technology (Wanglong Technology) ceased production after losing an intellectual property infringement lawsuit earlier this year. Another large manufacturer also stopped production for several weeks due to summer maintenance, leaving only one factory trying to make up for the vacancy. At present, the price is at an all-time high and it is expected to rise further, and the market should not improve this year.
