Start in August! Nippon, Mitsubishi, Mobil, Wacker, more than a dozen giants collectively raise prices!

Yesterday (28th), Wanhua Chemical issued a price increase letter stating that raw materials such as butyl acrylate, methyl methyl, and isooctyl ester continued to rise due to factors such as the continued volatility of crude oil prices and the tight supply of upstream materials. It is expected that in the short term in the future, the price of raw materials will remain at a high level, which has led to a sharp increase in the cost of water-based products, which is far beyond the company’s acceptable range. While continuing to bear the pressure of rising prices of raw materials, the price of waterborne acrylic emulsions for architectural coatings will be adjusted. Adjust as follows:

Ordinary styrene-acrylic emulsion: increase 300-400 CNY/ton

Modified styrene-acrylic emulsion: increase 400-500 CNY/ton

Elastic/waterproof emulsion: increase 500-600 CNY/ton

Pure acrylic emulsion: raise 600-800 CNY/ton

In addition, Wanhua Chemical’s latest quotation table shows that the company’s neopentyl glycol, acrylic acid, butyl acrylate, methacrylic acid and other products have all been adjusted upwards, with a maximum increase of 800 CNY/ton. Wanhua Chemical’s letter to announce the increase caused a great uproar in the industry. In addition to reminding downstream customers to stock up properly, it also played a leading role in the increase. According to the Coatings Purchasing Network, since July, international crude oil has fluctuated at a high level, and basic chemical raw materials have risen wildly. Leading domestic and foreign chemical companies have keenly smelled the smell of tighter prices and quickly kicked off a new round of price increases. 

Mitsubishi, Nippon, Wacker, Mobil and other overseas leaders collectively raise prices up to 4467 CNY/ton

Mitsubishi Chemical: Starting from August 20, the price of bisphenol A (BPA) will be increased by more than 20 yen/kg (about 1176 CNY/ton).

Mitsubishi Chemical: Starting August 20, it will increase the prices of Acetone, methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) and diacetone alcohol (DAA). Among them, acetone is raised by more than 19 yen/kg (about 1117 CNY/ton), and MIBK and DAA are raised by more than 24 yen/kg (about 1411 CNY/ton).

Total Energy: Starting from August 1, it will increase the price of its PP products by US$0.05/lb or US$100/ton (about 651 CNY/ton).

Stepan (Stepan): Starting from August 1, the price of STEPANPOL® and TERATE® polyester polyols (insulation applications) in Europe will be increased by 80 euros/ton (611 CNY/ton).

KH Co., Ltd.: Starting from August 1, prices of various chemicals produced by the company will be increased:

Carbonyl (octanol, octanol 900, nonanol, butanol, isobutanol, isobutyl ACETATE, caprylic acid, isononanoic acid, butyraldehyde, isobutyraldehyde, Kyowazol C-800, Kyowazol C600M, Kyowazol-M, ten Triol) increased by more than 20 yen/kg (about 1176 CNY/ton);

Acetone type (acetone, acetone-P) increased by 16 yen/kg (about 882 CNY/ton) or more;

Diacetone alcohol (DAA) and methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) increased by more than 21 yen/kg (about 1234 CNY/ton);

Butyl acetate type (Buchicel acetate, Butycernol 20 acetate) increased by 76 yen/kg (approximately 4467 CNY/ton) or more;

Diols (octanediol, butyl ethyl propylene glycol, Kyowa Glycol PD-9) rose by more than 20%.

In addition, it plans to separately increase the prices of other small-volume sales items.

Exxon Mobil (Exxon Mobil): Starting from August 1st, the price of Jayflex™ series plasticizer liquid will be increased by 8 cents/lb (approximately RMB 1,136/ton) globally.

Nippon Paint Holdings Co., Ltd. announced that due to the continuous increase in the prices of solvents, resins, pigments, etc., as the main raw materials for coatings such as epoxy resins, it will increase the prices of some of the company's products from September 21. The price increases and increases are as follows:

① Thinner: 15-20%

②Solvent-based paint: 10-15%

③Water-based paint, surface treatment agent: 8-12%

④Freight: 10-30%

Tosoh (TOSOH): Starting from September 1, the price of the company's industrial grade Glauber's salt products will be increased by 10 yen/kg (approximately 588 CNY/ton).

Nitto Chemical: Starting from August 1st, the price of rubber sheets and rubber pads will be adjusted by 20% or even higher.

Solvay: If the contract permits, Solvay will increase the global price of the full range of SUPERSOL® wire drawing lubricants by 10%.

Wacker: Will increase the price of dispersions and dispersible powders in North America. Starting from August 9, the price of its overall product line will increase by 10%.

Kawasaki Chemicals: Starting from August 2, the price of anhydrous phthalic anhydride will be increased by more than 15 yen/kg (about 882 CNY/ton). The main applications of this product are plasticizers, pigments, coatings and polyester resins.

Ba Defu and Hengshui Xinguang led the gains, and chemicals such as emulsions, polyesters, and "lithium" families rose up to 4,500 CNY/ton

While overseas giants are rushing to send letters to increase prices, the domestic chemical industry is unwilling to show weakness and has announced the increase.

The domestic emulsion leader Bardefu issued a price increase letter, and after research and decision, the price of various products will be adjusted as follows from today:

General-purpose styrene-C: price increase by 200-300 CNY/ton

Real stone paint: price increase of 300-400 CNY/ton

Waterproof/flexible category: price increase 400-600 CNY/ton

High-grade pure category C: price increase by 600-800 CNY/ton

Huyi Chemical in Cangzhou Bohai New Area: After research and decision, the prices of various products will be adjusted as follows.

General styrene-acrylic emulsion: increase 200-300 CNY/ton

Real stone paint: raise 300-400 CNY/ton

Waterproof/elastic category: increase 400-500 CNY/ton

High-grade pure category C: raise 600-800 CNY/ton

Hengshui Xinguang New Materials: The price of Jiantu waterproof emulsion series products will be adjusted as follows on the basis of the price list on June 24.

Styrene-acrylic emulsions: raise 200-300 CNY/ton

Waterproof emulsion category: raise 300-700 CNY/ton

Pure acrylic emulsion: increase 500-700 CNY/ton

Glue and other categories: increase 400-700 CNY/ton
