Chemical Market Update: BPA and Epoxy Resin Trends in Focus
Last week, the domestic market for Bisphenol A (BPA) experienced a slight increase. The price of BPA started the week at 9,500 yuan/ton and rose to 9,600 yuan/ton by the end of the week, with a 1.05% increase. The upward movement in BPA prices was supported by cost factors. However, downstream industries such as epoxy resins and polycarbonate (PC) only maintained minimal procurement demand without significant signs of improvement. Some BPA production units are scheduled to restart this week, gradually increasing the overall supply.
It is important to monitor the cost of BPA and the production and sales situations of various manufacturers. The market is expected to experience narrow fluctuations and consolidation.
In the epoxy chloropropane (ECH) market, last week the domestic price remained relatively stable at 8,300 yuan/ton. Currently, there is a shortage of spot goods in the market, and some downstream industries are making limited purchases. Market trading activity has slowed down after some downstream buyers have completed their restocking.
The ECH market is expected to maintain a sideways trend with limited upward movement. It is necessary to pay attention to developments in the upstream and downstream sectors as well as trading dynamics.
Looking at the epoxy resin market, the limited increase in prices of its raw materials and the minimal procurement demand from downstream end-users have failed to stimulate the epoxy resin market. It is anticipated that epoxy resin prices will remain within a range and experience mainly sideways fluctuations. It is advisable for industry participants to closely monitor the trends in raw material markets and the response from downstream sectors.
Based on the above information, it can be concluded that the BPA market is expected to undergo a period of consolidation with narrow fluctuations, while the ECH market is expected to maintain a sideways trend. The epoxy resin market is likely to experience limited price movements and will depend on the trends in raw material markets and the demand from downstream industries.
