Market Insights: Recent Trends in China's Chemical Industry
Last week, China's bisphenol A (BPA) market showed signs of weakness. The phenol market, on the other hand, experienced a slight increase. At the beginning of the week, phenol was priced at 7,675 yuan per ton, and by the end of the week, it rose to 7,725 yuan per ton, representing a 0.65% increase. The downward trend in crude oil prices last week led to a decline in pure benzene prices, causing phenol market participants to adopt a cautious approach and resulting in a weaker market sentiment. However, the market received a boost on Thursday when some facilities were shut down, leading to a slight recovery in sentiment.
It is expected that the phenol market in China will continue to experience sideways fluctuations, with attention being paid to changes in supply and demand fundamentals.
Last week, the acetone market in China saw a slight increase. At the beginning of the week, acetone was priced at 6,500 yuan per ton, and by the end of the week, it rose slightly to 6,525 yuan per ton, representing a 0.38% increase. Adequate supply of goods last week put pressure on market participants, leading to cautious selling by traders. End-user factories made purchases as needed, resulting in limited trading volume.
The acetone market is expected to operate within a narrow range of fluctuations.
Last week, the bisphenol A market in China continued its downward trend and weakened further. At the beginning of the week, bisphenol A was priced at 9,950 yuan per ton, and by the end of the week, it fell to 9,500 yuan per ton, representing a 4.5% decrease. The lack of support from raw materials and increased cost pressure on bisphenol A, coupled with limited demand from downstream sectors, has led market participants to have low confidence in the future market. The market lacks positive factors, leading to a more cautious approach by traders.
It is expected that the bisphenol A market will continue to show narrow and weak fluctuations this week.
Last week, China's epoxy chloropropane (ECH) market experienced a slight decline. At the beginning of the week, ECH was priced at 8,450 yuan per ton, and by the end of the week, it fell to 8,300 yuan per ton, representing a 1.78% decrease. With no positive factors in the market, weak negotiations for new orders dominated, but as downstream inventory continues to be consumed, there is expected to be some replenishment of small orders in the market during the week.
In the near term, the ECH market in China is expected to remain stable, with narrow adjustments in sentiment. It is still necessary to pay attention to developments in the upstream and downstream sectors, as well as trading dynamics.
Outlook for the epoxy resin market:
With the downward trend in the prices of raw materials and the declining cost of epoxy resin, coupled with weak downstream demand, actual trading activities remain subdued.
It is expected that the epoxy resin market will continue to experience a weak and volatile trend. It is advisable to monitor the trends in raw material markets and downstream follow-up.
