There is no essential difference between polyolefin plastomer and POE, except that the content of copolymerized α-olefin monomer is different. The content of comonomer directly leads to the difference in density between POE and POP. Generally, the mass fraction of POE comonomer is greater than 20%, and the mass fraction of POP comonomer is less than 20%, so the density of POP is higher than that of POE. POE has good weather resistance and aging resistance, and is mainly used in the field of modification; POP has excellent bonding strength, tear resistance and transparency, and is mainly used in the field of film preparation.

 

POP has a low ratio of comonomers relative to POE, and has a relatively higher density. Compared with polyolefin plastics, it has certain rubber characteristics, but still has the strength and processability of plastics. POP is sensitive to shear rate, the viscosity drops quickly at high shear rate, and it is easy to process. At the same time, its static shear viscosity is high, the melt strength is good, and the bubble stability is good during the film blowing process. POP has excellent heat-sealability and good compatibility with other resins, so it has good co-extrusion properties. According to the above characteristics, POP is mainly used in the field of film preparation and blended into PP for use. Most POP products have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and can be used directly in food packaging.

 


PP blended with POP extruded film, the heat sealing temperature is lower, the packaging speed is faster, while the production efficiency is improved, and the energy consumption is reduced; the prepared film has higher heat adhesion and excellent heat sealing strength and film toughness. Enhance the reliability and integrity of packaging and extend the shelf life of food. The study found that the modified atmosphere packaging prepared by three-layer co-extrusion of 12 parts of POP for every 100 parts of PP, compared with pure PP packaging, the heat sealing temperature of the film is reduced from 108 ℃ to 102 ℃, and POP also has a certain toughening effect. In addition, POP can also be used in the production of flat extruded film, sealing layer, cast film, and blown film for medical and health products and heavy packaging films; for cold stretch tube film applications, POP can reduce the film thickness by 10% , It saves more resources than traditional packaging materials.
