Import of Animal Feed Inputs at $3b p.a.

An average of $3 billion worth of livestock, poultry and fish feed inputs are imported by I country every year, the head of I country Feed Association said.

“It is estimated that 82%, 16% and 26% of livestock corn, wheat and barley respectively as well as 90% of different oilseed feeds will be supplied through imports in the current I countryian year (started March 21),” Majid Movaffaq Qadiri added.

According to the official, I country imported 55,000 tons of livestock concentrates, supplements and additives worth close to $65 million from 41 countries in 2016, Mehr News Agency reported.

I country accounts for 0.3% of the global livestock concentrates, supplements and additives imports.

More than 200,000 tons of different types of livestock, poultry and fish feed worth $68 million were exported from I country to 11 countries in 2016.

“Industrial livestock feed factories are, at present, working at 30% of their capacity, yet we are able to meet 99% of our domestic demand for these products,” Qadiri said.
