Alibaba Releases Financial Report for the Third Quarter of Fiscal Year 2022, Alibaba Cloud has Made Profits for Five Consecutive Quarters
On the evening of February 24, Alibaba announced its performance for the third quarter of fiscal 2022 (October to December 2021). The company's revenue for the quarter was 242.58 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10%, and its adjusted EBITA profit was 44.822 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 27%.
Among them, Alibaba Cloud’s revenue increased by 20% in the quarter, and its adjusted EBITA profit was 134 million yuan, making profits for five consecutive quarters.
Data shows that in the 12 months ended December 31, 2021, Alibaba's annual active consumers in China reached 979 million, and the goal of reaching 1 billion domestic annual active consumers at the end of the fiscal year will be completed as planned.
Taote's quarterly payment orders increased by more than 100% year-on-year. Taocaicai's quarterly GMV still achieved a strong quarter-on-quarter growth of 30% from a relatively high base.

In terms of globalization, Alibaba's overseas market consumers exceeded 300 million for the first time, and orders for Lazada and Trendyol increased by 52% and 49% respectively, driving orders for the entire international retail business to maintain a year-on-year growth of 25%.
The GMV of the international wholesale business Alibaba International Station increased by 50% year-on-year.
Among them, Alibaba Cloud's revenue increased by 20% in the quarter, and its adjusted EBITA profit was 134 million yuan, making profits for five consecutive quarters.
Alibaba Cloud is also growing rapidly in overseas markets. The financial report shows that during the quarter, Alibaba Cloud added one data center in South Korea and one in Thailand, and the number of operating regions increased to 25. Another data shows that in the past three years, Alibaba Cloud's overseas market size has increased by more than 10 times.
At the 2021 Investor Day, Alibaba Group Chief Financial Officer Wu Wei said that Alibaba's division of new business divisions will further enhance the company's transparency, and some businesses may also receive their own external financing opportunities.
During the quarter, Alibaba also repurchased about 10.1 million American depositary shares for about $1.4 billion. For the nine months ended December 31, 2021, Alibaba repurchased shares for approximately $7.7 billion, or 51% of the overall $15 billion repurchase program.
