Study on Key Influencing Factors of Performance of Anticorrosive Coatings

All along, metal materials occupy a very important position in the field of materials because of their excellent cost performance and diversified technological conditions. However, metal materials are vulnerable to corrosion by the surrounding media in the use process, resulting in huge economic losses, environmental pollution, waste of resources and so on. Question. Therefore, as an effective means of metal corrosion protection, anticorrosive coatings have received extensive attention from scientific research institutes and industry. At present, solvent-based anticorrosive coatings are the mainstream products used in metal anticorrosive coatings. However, the VOC emissions of solvent-based anticorrosive coatings have led to increasing environmental pressure on coatingol.com. In 2017, China issued the "Green Product Evaluation - Coatings" standard to promote the development of environmentally friendly waterborne coatings and phase out the traditional solvent-based anticorrosive coatings. Waterborne coatings have the advantages of low price, adjustable decoration and environmental protection, and the production process is simple, raw materials are easy to obtain. Since 1960s, especially after 1990s, waterborne coatings have developed rapidly. Now, a large system of multi-varieties, multi-functions, multi-uses and multi-specifications has been formed. Its products are mainly divided into the following three categories: water-soluble coatings, water-diluting coatings and water-dispersible coatings (latex coatings). In this study, a series of waterborne metal anticorrosive coatings were prepared by mixing water-borne silica sol and silicone-acrylic resin. The key factors in formulation and process were studied.

Water-borne Silicone Sol, Jinhua Geling Functional Coating Materials Research Institute Co., Ltd; Water-borne Silicone Polypropylene Resin, Foshan Shunde District Geoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd; Mica, Guangzhou Yifeng Chemical Technology Co., Ltd; Ultrafine Alumina, Hangzhou Jiubang New Materials Co., Ltd; U Fine kaolin, ultra-fine calcium oxide, ultra-fine talc powder, ultra-fine whisker silicon, Shenzhen Haiyang Powder Technology Co., Ltd; ultra-fine zirconia, Jining Zhongkai New Materials Co., Ltd; chrome green GN-G-M, extinction powder OK520, Degusai carbon black FW200, Shanghai Yuhuan Chemical Co., Ltd; ALUMINIUM-SILVER slurry, Suzhou Boka Metal Pigment Co., Ltd.
1.2 Instruments and Equipment
Ultraviolet Accelerated Aging Test Box (UV test), ATLAS Material Testing Technology Co., Ltd; Impedance Testing Instrument (P4000A), Ametek Co., Ltd; Adhesion Tester (QFD), Shanghai Rongjida Experimental Instrument Co., Ltd; Coated Pencil Scratch Hardness Meter (QHQ), Shanghai Precision Instrument Co., Ltd; Hydroelectric Sep Fog Testing Machine (KD-908), Dongguan Kodi Instrument Co., Ltd. Constant Temperature and Humidity Testing Machine.
1.3 Paint preparation
Adding pigments and fillers, solvents and related additives into the barrel, pre-dispersing under the stirring of the mechanical mixer, then adding the pre-dispersing liquid to the abrasive cylinder for grinding, after grinding for a certain period of time, the color paste is prepared.
Finally, the color paste, water-borne silica sol, water-borne silicone-acrylic resin and curing agent were mixed under mechanical agitator for a certain time to prepare the required paint.
