Opening Speech of the Founder of ECHEMI at the Food Ingredient Sourcing Meeting

On Jun. 20, 2019 ECHEMI Food Ingredient Sourcing Meeting & Food Industry Forum was held at Hall 4, NECC, Shanghai. At 9:30 a.m., David, CEO of ECHEMI gave the opening speech.

At the opening ceremony, David firstly thanked more than 20 global buyers and over 100 Chinese suppliers for coming to the grand event, and then he analyzed the recent food industry market.

He analyzed that in recent years, food additives have developed rapidly with the technology of modern food industry. At present, there are more than 25,000 types of food additives of great demand and application worldwide. The prosperity of the food industry has driven the development of food additives. It is expected that the total annual growth of international food additive sales will be about 2.5-4% in five years. 

From 2014 to 2018, the food additives and ingredients industry has developed steadily. According to statistics, in the past five years, the variety output of major enterprises in the food additive industry has increased from 9.47 million tons to 12 million tons, with an average annual growth rate of 6.3%. Sales of main food additive products increased from 93.5 billion yuan to 116 billion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 6.0%.In the same period, the export volume remained around 3.6 billion to 3.7 billion dollars. The industrial trend is to maintain steady development, and the volume and value of main varieties remain stable.

China is a large consumer of food additives. In a few varieties, China has gained important positions in the world. In addition to the traditional export of natural flavor and spices, some varieties developed in recent years also show its competitiveness. At present, there are dozens of biosynthesis additives that have been put into scale production, including citric acid, enzyme preparation, vitamin C, sodium glutamate and so on.

Thirdly, David introduced ECHEMI platform.
