The catering industry is an important area of final consumption and employment absorption, which is of great significance to stabilize growth, promote consumption, expand employment and benefit people's livelihood.

But at the same time, the catering industry is also the most serious impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic in the past two years. This year's government work report put forward, catering, accommodation, retail, tourism, passenger transport and other industries with large employment capacity, heavy impact of the epidemic, the support policies should be tilted to support these industry enterprises to survive, through the difficulties, have a head start.

How to help the catering industry to tide over the difficulties, to tap the new demand, to drive new consumption, become this year's national two sessions of the delegates and members of the hot topic of discussion.

Chinese food culture is an important part of the excellent Chinese traditional culture.

Wang Yi, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and director of the Department of Food Therapy and Nutrition of Guang'anmen Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, suggested increasing policy support and efforts in enhancing the country's cultural soft power and promoting Chinese food culture "going global".

Wang Yi said that Chinese food culture is an important grip to promote economic and social development and enhance the national cultural soft power. Chinese food is the carrier of Chinese food culture, with a long history, a wide range of ingredients, exquisite craftsmanship, rich variety of categories, diverse flavors, eclectic and innovative.

From the perspective of economic development, Chinese food is a kind of hard power, playing an important role in increasing the gross national product, cultivating and growing special industries, absorbing labor and employment, and promoting rural revitalization. From the perspective of culture and society, Chinese food is a soft power that has unique advantages in meeting people's needs for a better food life, shaping the image of cultural brands, passing on Chinese civilization, and enhancing the ability of international communication.

Chinese food is also an important element of Chinese culture in the eyes of foreigners, and Chinese restaurants around the world are not only an important means for overseas Chinese to make a living, but also an important support for "telling a good Chinese story, spreading a good Chinese voice, and explaining Chinese characteristics", as well as a window to showcase Chinese civilization and a bridge to carry out public diplomacy.

Wang Yi believes that food is an important driving force for "building a community of human destiny". In the process of global integration, global food is interconnected, and in front of food, human destiny is more and more closely connected, and food culture is becoming a business card for human communication and an important window for countries to understand each other.

FOOD POLICY

Wang Yi said that to enhance the soft power of Chinese culture and promote Chinese food culture "going global", we need to take multiple measures and give full play to the positive power of all parties, suggesting the following support from the national level:

First, to carry out "International Chinese Food Day" activities. Firstly, the International Chinese Food Day should be held at home and abroad by establishing a mechanism guided by multiple ministries and departments, and by bringing into full play the power of international trade associations.

Second, organize the existing resources for foreign propaganda to form a joint effort. We will set up an organization to coordinate the outreach of Chinese food culture, organize existing resources to form a synergy, unify work ideas, clarify work plans, create brand activities, create a Chinese food culture museum or exhibition hall and other educational bases, and continuously enhance the international influence and competitiveness of Chinese food culture.

Third, set up a special fund to help the development of Chinese food overseas. We will support special funds in promoting the standardization and internationalization of Chinese food, establishing an evaluation system, guiding domestic brand catering enterprises to "go global", and strengthening the training of overseas Chinese food chefs and managers.
