Future growth points in the perfume market: digitalization and functionality
Recently, perfume brands SIX and Oo La Lab and flavor and fragrance supplier Symrise discussed how to expand the application of perfume in personal care products and the future trend of the perfume market.
Focus on digital channels
The lucrative Chinese and Indian markets are benefiting from millennial and middle-class consumers in these markets, and the perfume market in the Asia-Pacific region is expected to achieve huge growth.
Karim Lisi, Sales Director of Symrise's perfume business in Asia-Pacific, emphasized that to seize market opportunities, innovation in the digital field is critical to current cosmetic brands and suppliers.
"Consumers tend to shop online, so we must provide channels to allow consumers to access perfume digitally."
Dan Terry, founder of Singapore-based perfume brand Oo La Lab, pointed out that e-commerce is still one of the major problems facing small perfume companies.
"How to move all offline perfume experience online? In the absence of sense of smell, how to let consumers understand perfume products in depth?"
Provide functional benefits
These industry insiders said that functional perfumes will become the next big trend in the market.
Clarissa Arajuo, Marketing Manager for the Asia Pacific region of Symrise's perfume business, said: "Today, many consumers are looking for products that provide additional functionality."
Singapore perfume company SIX actively cooperates with Givaudan to develop fragrances scientifically proven to improve sleep and memory.
