In order to promote the sustainable development of polyurethane industry and practice the concept of responsibility and care in chemical industry, under the leadership of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, China Polyurethane Industry Association, Shanghai Economic and Credit Commission and Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, the Pan-Yangtze River Delta Regional Polyurethane Entrepreneurs Forum was held in Shanghai on June 28. More than 200 well-known experts, scholars and entrepreneurs from the industry gathered together to discuss the sustainable development of polyurethane industry and its downstream industries as well as the development path of responsibility care. Dou E, Vice President of Coase Creative Polyurethane Business Department in China, delivered a speech and received the "Sustainable Development Innovation Award 2019" for Coase Creative Polyurethane Industry on behalf of Coase.

Cosco won the "Sustainable Development Innovation Award" in the polyurethane industry. Sustainable development is the core element of the strategy of Sci-Tech Founding Company. As the inventor of polyurethane materials, Kosichuan has set a target of investing 80% of R&D expenditure in areas related to UN sustainable development goals by 2025. Kosichuan is committed to reducing carbon dioxide emissions in production processes and product life cycles, and actively developing and using energy-saving technologies, installing intelligent control systems in 30 production bases around the world to optimize energy use. In addition, Cosco pays more attention to the sustainable development of the whole value chain, assists partners to improve and upgrade, saves costs and improves production efficiency.

"Innovation and sustainable development are the source power of scientific innovation. We have developed high-performance polyurethane materials for the wind power industry to produce lighter and longer blades of wind turbines. We have also successfully used carbon dioxide as an alternative raw material to produce polyurethane, which saves fossil resources. Dou said, "Cosco insists on contributing to the sustainable development of the chemical industry through material innovation, and working with partners to enhance energy efficiency and resource utilization of the industrial chain."

Renewable Energy Innovation Materials. China has been leading the global wind power market for many years. In 2018, China ranked first in the world in wind power cumulative capacity and new installed capacity. With the continuous improvement of fan power, the blade length is also increasing. Longer blades pose new challenges to design and manufacture. In order to break through the limitations of existing materials and meet the higher performance requirements of the industry, Kosichuan developed high performance polyurethane as a new generation of fan blade resin material. With excellent mechanical properties and efficient process, polyurethane resin can reduce the weight of large fan blades and help blade manufacturers to reduce costs and increase efficiency. In April this year, Cosco has delivered its first commercial polyurethane order for fan blades to Chinese customers.

COSCO also uses greenhouse gas carbon dioxide partially to replace oil, which is used to produce polyurethane foam raw material cardyon cardyon. The carbon dioxide content of the new material is as high as 20%, which can be used to produce high-quality polyurethane soft foam, and eventually applied to mattress and runway. This process is conducive to the recycling of carbon dioxide and the saving of increasingly scarce fossil resources. Cosco is one of the largest polymer manufacturers in the world, with sales of 14.6 billion euros in 2018. Its business scope mainly focuses on the production and manufacture of high-tech polymer materials, as well as the research and development of innovative solutions for many areas of daily life. The main service areas cover the automotive, construction, wood processing and furniture, electrical and electronic industries, and other areas include sports and leisure, cosmetics, medical and chemical industries themselves. By the end of 2018, Cosco had 30 production bases and about 16,800 employees worldwide (based on full-time employees).
