Shiseido announced its first half of 2019 earnings

In the Chinese market, Shiseido, Cle de Peau Beautue, IPSA, NARS have maintained a high growth trend, and the sales of high-end brands in China have increased by more than 40% compared with the previous year. Recently, Shiseido, a Japanese cosmetics giant, released key financial data for the first half of 2019 .
Thanks to the slow recovery of Japan's domestic cosmetics market, the recovery of domestic tourism industry and the strong growth of China's market sales, Shiseido's net sales in the first half of fiscal year of 2019 increased by 6.0% to 564.47 billion yen, 7.5% in local currency, and the net profit attributable to the shareholders of the parent company increased by 7.5% year on year. The increase was 10.0% to 52452 million yen. Japan's domestic net sales grew 0.5% to 231.885 billion yen year-on-year, 0.5% year-on-year in terms of local currency; tourism retail business grew 17.2% to 53.555 billion yen year-on-year, 17.3% year-on-year in terms of local currency.
In the Chinese market, high-end brands such as Shiseido, Clire de Peau Beautre, IPSA, NARS have maintained a high growth trend, and the sales of high-end brands in China's local counters have increased by more than 40% over the previous year. In addition, among the mass cosmetics brands, "Made in Japan" brands - "ELIXIR" and "ANESSA" have also maintained considerable growth. Sales in the Chinese market increased 15.9% to 107684 million yen in the first half of the year, up 20.5% in local currency terms. In order to make Shiseido a "global international origin from Japan", Shiseido's activities are from the perspective of customers, committed to improving the brand value of the group worldwide.
Shiseido announced the new three-year plan last year as the second stage of the Group's medium and long-term strategic Vision 2020. Fiscal year 2019 is the second year of the new three-year plan. Shiseido focuses on high-end brand business and "Made in Japan" mass cosmetics and personal care brand business, focusing on marketing activities, strengthening digital marketing, innovative R&D investment. In the first half of the year, due to increased investment in marketing, research and development, human resources and other aspects, operating profit decreased by 3.0% compared with the same period last year, to 68.98 billion yen.
Based on the sales performance in the first half of the year, Shiseido accordingly lowered its full-year forecast for fiscal year 2019, with net sales of 1164 billion yen, which was lower than the previous forecast of 1172 billion yen. Meanwhile, due to the excellent performance of the Chinese market, Shiseido raised its annual sales forecast for fiscal year 2019 in the Chinese market to 220 billion yen, which was higher than the previous forecast. Previously expected 217 billion yen.
