Consumer prices rose by 2.8% in July from a year earlier.

According to the website of the National Bureau of Statistics, in July 2019, consumer prices rose by 2.8% year-on-year. Among them, urban rose 2.7%, rural rose 2.9%, food prices rose 9.1%, non-food prices rose 1.3%, consumer prices rose 3.4%, service prices rose 1.8%. From January to July, the average consumer price of the whole country rose by 2.3% compared with the same period last year.
In July, consumer prices rose by 0.4% annually. Among them, urban rose 0.4%, rural rose 0.3%; food prices rose 0.9%, non-food prices rose 0.3%; consumer prices rose 0.2%, service prices rose 0.7%. Various commodities and services prices changed year-on-year. In July, food, tobacco and alcohol prices rose 6.7% year-on-year, affecting CPI (consumer price index) by about 1.95 percentage points. Among them, fresh fruit prices rose 39.1%, affecting CPI by about 0.63 percentage points; livestock prices rose 18.2%, affecting CPI by about 0.75 percentage points (pork prices rose 27.0%, affecting CPI by about 0.59 percentage points); egg prices rose 11.4%, affecting CPI by about 0.06 percentage points; poultry prices rose 7.6%, affecting CP. I rose by about 0.09 percentage points; fresh vegetable prices rose by 5.2%, affecting CPI by about 0.12 percentage points; grain prices rose by 0.6%, affecting CPI by about 0.01 percentage points.
Prices of the other seven categories rose and fell one year over the same period. Among them, the prices of other goods and services, health care, education, culture and entertainment rose by 3.4%, 2.6% and 2.3%, while the prices of clothing, housing, daily necessities and services rose by 1.8%, 1.5% and 0.8%, respectively, while the prices of transportation and communication decreased by 2.1%.
Ring-to-Ring Variation of Prices of Various Goods and Services
In July, food, tobacco and alcohol prices rose by 0.7%, affecting CPI by about 0.20 percentage points. Among them, the price of eggs rose by 5.0%, affecting CPI by about 0.03 percentage points; the price of livestock and meat rose by 4.9%, affecting CPI by about 0.22 percentage points (the price of pork rose by 7.8%, affecting CPI by about 0.20 percentage points); the price of fresh vegetables rose by 2.6%, affecting CPI by about 0.06 percentage points; the price of poultry and meat rose by 0.5%, affecting CPI. The price of aquatic products rose by 0.4%, affecting CPI by 0.01%, and the price of fresh fruit by 6.2%, affecting CPI by 0.14%.
The other seven categories of prices have risen and fallen annually compared with the six categories. Among them, the prices of education, culture and entertainment, other goods and services, and health care rose by 1.3%, 0.9% and 0.2%, respectively, while the prices of housing, daily necessities and services, transportation and communications rose by 0.1%, while the prices of clothing dropped by 0.4%.
