The price of meat, vegetable and fruit has risen by the highest rate

According to the investigation team of Bazhong, National Bureau of Statistics, the results show that food prices in Bazhong City rose by 6.7% in January-July this year, driving up CPI by about 1.28%, and contributing 60.8% to CPI. From January to July, pork prices in Bazhong District rose 21.5% year on year, affecting CPI by 0.56 percentage points; fresh vegetable prices rose 5.1% year on year, affecting CPI by 0.15 percentage points; fresh fruit prices rose 14.3% year on year, affecting CPI by 0.18 percentage points. The main reasons are: first, after the outbreak of the African swine plague in 2018, some consumers voluntarily reduced the purchase of pork, and bought beef, chicken and other meat at least to eat meat, whether in the retail market or wholesale market, traders uniformly reflected that business was not as good as before. Second, climate factors affect production and boost fruit prices. Affected by last year's "late spring cold" in spring in the main producing areas, apple and pear production was reduced, and insufficient stock led to price increases. (The press conference of the Ministry of Commerce on May 30 pointed out that the national apple and pear production was reduced by about 25% and 20% respectively in 2018.) Third, rainy weather this year is more frequent. As a result, the production cost of fruits, vegetables and other agricultural products is rising, and the market is short of supply. At the same time, the storage cost of vegetables is increasing, the supply is decreasing, and the transportation cost in circulation is increasing, which leads to the price rising continuously.
