Uses of benzoic acid
1.Food preservatives

Benzoyl chloride, which contains a benzoic acid, is used in some treatments as an antiseptic. Benzoic acid and salts of benzoic acid are used as active ingredients in medicines to treat psoriasis and acne rashes. Benzosulphonic acid is also one of the medicaments that contain benzoic acid as its main constituent. The latter has been shown to stop allergic reactions, help promote wound healing and prevent certain cancers such as leukemia in humans.
