Harbin pig and pork prices hit a record high in mid-August

Reporter learned from the development and Reform Department of Harbin that with the expansion of pig supply gap, market demand gradually warmed up, and the purchase price of Harbin pig market continued to strengthen in mid-August. Affected by this, pork prices also continued to strengthen, both of them reached a record high. In addition, egg and vegetable prices rebounded significantly.
According to the price monitoring data of the development and reform department, the price of live pigs in Harbin rose 16.4% on August 19, 152.29% on the beginning of the year, 74.05% on the same period last year, 1.85% higher than the 10.80 yuan in June 2016, and the highest purchase price reached 11.20 yuan. The average retail price of pork in the farm market was 18.08 yuan per kilogram, up 14.07% from last week, 13.71% from last month, 84.68% from the beginning of the year, 60.7% from the same period last year and 13.35% from the record high of 15.95 yuan in June 2016. At present, the supply gap of pig market is difficult to recover in a short time, and the consumption demand in autumn and winter increases. It is expected that the prices of pig and pork will remain firm and fluctuate in the second half of the year, with little possibility of falling. In addition, driven by the demand of Mid-Autumn Festival effect, the price of eggs continued to rise. The average retail price of eggs in the farmers'market was 5.07 yuan per kilogram, up 10.94% from last week, up 16.28% from last month, up 21.88% from the beginning of the year, down from 4.33 percentage points in the same period last year. According to past experience, the price of eggs will generally drop significantly after the Mid-Autumn Festival. The average retail price of 24 vegetables monitored was 3.34 yuan per kilogram, up 34.68% from last week, 32.54% from last month, up 26.04% from the same period last year, basically returning to the price level at the beginning of the year. As the weather improves, vegetable prices are expected to fall later.
