In the First Quarter of 2022, the Export Volume and Price of Aspartame Raw Materials Will Rise
Aspartame, as a conventional sweetener, has a wide range of applications, involves many varieties, and has a relatively stable market size. Prices have been stable for many years. Since the second half of last year, the market price of sweetener products has risen sharply due to the increase in raw material prices and other reasons. Prices hovered at a high level in the first quarter of this year, and demand continued to grow substantially.
Analysis of export data shows that the average growth rate of the export volume of aspartame APIs in the past five years is only 2.39%, and the export value is 3.85%, and the export involves more than 110 countries and regions. From January to March 2022, the total export of aspartame in my country is about 5,604 tons, and the export value is about 102 million US dollars, with an average price of 18.23 US dollars/KG. The export volume increased by 44% year-on-year, and the export price increased by 53% year-on-year. It can be seen that the price of aspartame and the demand have kept increasing. At present, domestic mainstream production enterprises are concentrated in Jiangsu Province, including: Jiangsu Hanguang Bioengineering Co., Ltd., Nantong Changhai Food Additives Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Vitol Co., Ltd. and Changzhou Guanghui Biotechnology Co., Ltd., etc. The competition pattern will not change in the short term.
In the future, the demand will still maintain a relative growth trend. As the global raw material cost rises, the environmental protection situation is severe, and new competitors enter the market in the later stage, the price may fluctuate slightly.
Added items:
1. Hebei Yuxing Biological Engineering Co., Ltd. with an annual output of 24,000 tons of aspartame and 5,000 tons of L-phenylalanine
2. Nantong Changhai Food Additives Co., Ltd. 5,000 tons/year aspartame refining project
