Jiuquan City: The Scale of Gobi Ecological Agriculture

In recent years, Jiuquan City has made great efforts to develop the Gobi ecological agriculture in desert areas, which is dominated by solar greenhouses, by taking advantage of the superior photothermal conditions and pollution-free snow water resources in Qilian Mountains. At present, the total area of Gobi agriculture in the whole city has reached 67,000 mu, which has become the largest demonstration base of Gobi ecological agriculture in China.

On August 29, the interview group "Gansu Development Achievement Patrol All-Media for the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of New China" entered the Nursery Center of Dongdong Gobi Eco-agricultural Park in Suzhou District. In the conventional nursery room on both sides of large-scale intelligent multi-span glass greenhouse, reporters saw that the intelligent sprinkler hanging in the half-space had just finished watering, and workers were busy transplanting marigold seedlings on the nursery tray into small pots. This is an order received by Dongdong Gobi Eco-agricultural Park some time ago. The transplanted marigold will be transported to the exhibition hall for display on the eve of National Day.

This intelligent multi-span glass greenhouse was constructed by the government and introduced to Shandong Anxin Seedling and Miao Group for operation. Orders can be placed on both sides of the greenhouse for conventional seedling cultivation, with annual production of 30 million plants. In the middle of the greenhouse, it is used to show the seedling-raising effect of new technologies such as three-dimensional cultivation and soilless cultivation, for the visitors who want to visit the new intelligent glass greenhouse greenhouse.

The director of the park told reporters that the Dongdong Gobi Eco-Industrial Park started construction in July last year. At present, it has built an 8,400 square metre intelligent multi-span glass greenhouse and 16 solar greenhouses. Many enterprises and cooperatives have been introduced to invest in it. After the completion of the park project, breeding seedlings will fully guarantee the vegetable and flower production needs of Jiuquan Gobi Agricultural Park, build a first-class standardized seedling breeding base, and build a large platform for seedling sales and production. In the greenhouse of the Gobi Agricultural Industrial Park in Zhengzhai, cucumbers grew vigorously and began to be harvested one after another. They were sold all over the country through pre-signed orders. "The common greenhouse here uses intelligent drip irrigation system, intelligently regulates water and fertilizer, and a couple can manage five greenhouses," Wang Wei, vice-mayor of Zhanzhai Town, told reporters that the greenhouse insulation layer in the park is taken from the Gobi gravel, vegetable growth does not need soil, and the substrates are made of chicken manure, sheep manure, straw, slag ash, etc. Utilize wasteland effectively to expand planting area. Peasant households use contracted farming methods, and each shed has a minimum income of 30,000 yuan per year. In recent years, Jiuquan City has formulated suggestions on speeding up the development of Gobi agriculture, with nearly 200 million yuan of special funds to support the development of Gobi agriculture, and many Gobi agricultural parks have started construction. The integrated management mode of "seedling raising, cultivation, production, processing, logistics and sales" has been constructed, and the industrial development mode of "Party building + leading enterprises + professional cooperatives + bases + farmers" has been formed. At present, 10 Gobi agricultural industrial parks, such as Yinda, Zhongzhai and Shunxing, have been established in Jiuquan City as demonstration bases for organic and ecological soilless cultivation of non-arable land by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Science and Technology. At the same time, 9 basic formulas suitable for vegetable cultivation in Northwest Gobi solar greenhouse, 16 new vegetable varieties suitable for adversity cultivation in Gobi, 1 national vegetable standard Park and 7 provincial vegetable standard park were screened out. Reporters learned that Jiuquan City will strive to complete a total investment of 36.8 billion yuan by 2022, build a new Gobi Solar Greenhouse of 150,000 mu, steel shed of 50,000 mu, build more than 90,000 mu Gobi ecological agricultural industry park, 25 more than 1000 mu industrial park, vegetable production area reached 800,000 mu, cultivate the Gobi vegetable industry. To become the first industry to promote farmers'income, Jiuquan will be built into a Gobi ecological agriculture demonstration area leading the whole province and even the whole country.
