Shanxi will dissolve 18.95 million tons of coal overcapacity this year

The Comprehensive Office of the Leading Group of Shanxi Iron and Steel Coal Industry to Resolve Overcapacity and Realize Over-Difficulty Development has released a list of 18 coal mines to be closed in 2019. This year, Shanxi will close 18 coal mines and eliminate 18.95 million tons of overcapacity. It is known that the 18 closed and withdrawn coal mines are distributed in 15 counties and municipalities of 8 cities in Shanxi Province. Among them, 12 coal mines are 600,000 tons per year or less.
The "Opinions on Implementing Reduction and Reorganization of Coal Mines" issued by Shanxi Provincial Government put forward that by the end of 2020, all coal mines under 600,000 tons/year will be withdrawn, and the production and construction scale of a single coal enterprise will reach more than 3 million tons/year. At the same time, 600,000 tons per year or more of coal mines are encouraged to participate in the reduction restructuring, and coal enterprises under 3 million tons per year are encouraged to further merger and reorganization. In recent years, Shanxi coal industry has steadfastly taken the road of "reduction, excellence and green". From 2016 to 2018, Shanxi closed 88 coal mines, withdrew 88.41 million tons of excess capacity, and the scale of coal deactivation was the first in China.
