Coal prices across the country have fallen, with coal prices rising

After nearly three years of efforts, once like a runaway wild horse, coal prices have finally been initially tamed by the national macro-control department this year, and coal prices are basically in a controllable range. However, today's think tank found that the price of coal in eastern Inner Mongolia has risen wildly, up more than 50 yuan per ton. On September 16, the National Development and Reform Commission Price Monitoring Center issued the latest China Electric Coal Price Index (CTCI). Today's think tank research team noted that in August 2019, the national comprehensive coal price index was 486.79 CNY/ton, down 35.61 CNY/ton from 522.40 CNY/ton in the same period last year, the lowest price since November 2016. In August 2019, the price index of electricity and coal in each price area (unit: CNY/ton) is as follows:

rom this price monitoring situation, it can be found that only five prices, namely, Mengxi, Mengdong, Heilongjiang, Zhejiang and Xinjiang, generally fell year on year. The region rose year-on-year. Among them, the price of Mengdong increased the most year-on-year, with 281.52 CNY/ton in August and 228.15 CNY/ton in the same period last year, up 53.37 CNY/ton, up 23.39%.

According to today's think tank, the coal price detection areas in Mengdong include Xilingol, Tongliao, Hulunbeier and Chifeng. Fang mainly produces lignite, while the soaring price of lignite in eastern Mongolia is related to the tight supply and demand structure. The main reason is that the ecological environment management and land expropriation problems have constrained the release of coal production capacity, the supply capacity of the production market is relatively limited, the inventory of thermal power enterprises in the downstream continues to operate at a low level, and the demand for lignite purchase is large, which makes the price of coal in this region rise significantly year on year. Although the local government has taken some measures, it is estimated that it will be difficult to solve the problem fundamentally in the short term. This will not only make the coal price in eastern Mongolia continue to be high, but also increase the coal price in northeastern China during the winter, because a considerable part of the lignite in eastern Mongolia is sold to the three northeastern provinces.
