China's banking sector net external liabilities at the end of June were 197.1bn

On Sept 26, the foreign exchange bureau released data on China's banking external financial assets and liabilities at the end of 6 2019. At the end of June 2019, China's banking industry had 1145.9 billion US dollars in external financial assets, 1343 billion US dollars in external liabilities and 197.1 billion US dollars in external net liabilities, of which 318.1 billion US dollars in RMB net liabilities and 121 billion US dollars in foreign currency net assets.
Among the foreign financial assets of the banking industry, deposit and loan assets amounted to $831.9 billion, bond assets amounted to $154.1 billion, and other assets, such as equity, amounted to $159.8 billion, accounting for 73%, 13% and 14% of the foreign financial assets of the banking industry, respectively. In terms of currency, RMB assets are 112.5 billion US dollars, US dollar assets are 79.12 billion US dollars, and other currency assets are 242.1 billion US dollars, accounting for 10%, 69% and 21% respectively. Among the foreign financial assets of the banking industry, 574.4 billion US dollars were invested in the overseas banking sector, accounting for 50%, and 575.5 billion US dollars were invested in the overseas non-banking sector, accounting for 50%. Among the external liabilities of the banking industry, deposit and loan liabilities amounted to $738.3 billion, bond liabilities amounted to $213.9 billion, and equity liabilities amounted to $390.7 billion, accounting for 55%, 16% and 29% of the external liabilities of the banking industry, respectively. In terms of currency, RMB debt is 430.6 billion US dollars, US dollar debt is 538.2 billion US dollars, and other currencies debt is 374.2 billion US dollars, accounting for 32%, 40% and 28% respectively. Among the external liabilities of China's banking industry, 554.9 billion US dollars came from overseas banking sector, accounting for 41%, while 788.1 billion US dollars came from overseas non-banking sector, accounting for 59%.
