Germany invests another 300 million euros in hydrogen technology research

ECHEMI 2020-03-19

The German government increased investment in hydrogen technology by another 300 million euros on the basis of a commitment of 480 million euros earlier this year, as Germany is expected to become a global leader in this technology. The German federal cabinet on Wednesday approved a climate protection plan. "The Climate Programme opens a new chapter in Germany's climate protection policy," explains Anja karlickek, Federal Minister of education and research. Germany is also now investing in power generation and heating, with a unified price for greenhouse gas emissions. This sets a clear direction for the positioning of enterprises and consumers in the next few years or even decades. The important thing is to let the whole people have such a vision and direction. Therefore, it is only possible to act cautiously, otherwise it will lose the recognition of the people. It is also important that climate protection programs provide precise control to ensure compliance with climate protection paths and ultimately achieve climate protection goals. On this basis, the Ministry of education will further promote the development of new climate friendly technologies. In addition to the climate fund, we will receive 360 million euros by 2023. With this money, we will explore green hydrogen more deeply. Green hydrogen, produced by sunlight and wind, is the energy source of the future. Green hydrogen is also the key to achieving climate goals. In the next few years, BMBF will greatly expand the research in this field. By 2021, we have invested 180 million euros in green hydrogen. We will also promote the implementation of the national hydrogen strategy.
